Critical Restrictions
Carrier Locked Phones
Your phone MUST be carrier-unlocked. If you are on a payment plan with AT&T, Verizon, etc., it might be locked.
Mainland China Models
iPhones purchased in Mainland China (and most Hong Kong/Macao models) feature TWO physical SIM slots and NO eSIM hardware.
Regional Restrictions
Some Samsung S20/S21 models from the USA do not support eSIM. Pixel 3 series from Japan/Australia also are restricted.
How to Verify Manually
1. Check for "Add eSIM"
Go to Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Data) > Add eSIM. If you see this option, your hardware is ready.
2. Check Unlock Status
On iPhone: Settings > General > About > Carrier Lock. It should say "No SIM restrictions".
3. Dial *#06#
Open your phone app and dial *#06#. Look for an EID number. If you have an EID, you have an eSIM.
